JULY is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month!

At P.S. Wilson Healthcare, we believe that mental health is the foundation of whole health—and in minority communities, this truth carries extra weight. July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to amplify the conversation, reduce stigma, and make mental wellness a community standard, not a silent struggle.

🧠 Why Minority Mental Health Deserves Center Stage
Black, Latinx, Asian, and Indigenous communities face higher rates of misdiagnosis, reduced access to care, and cultural stigmas that prevent open conversations around mental well-being. For many, "just push through" has become a generational mantra—but it's costing us our quality of life.

  • Only 1 in 3 Black adults who need mental health care receive it.

  • Latinx youth are at higher risk for depression but less likely to seek help.

  • Asian Americans have the lowest help-seeking rates of any group.

  • Indigenous populations experience high suicide rates and historical trauma.
